Converting VOB to AVI – For YouTube

So I’ve finally converted our DVD wedding video to AVI for uploading to YouTube.  It was fairly easy to do.

Steps:

1. Download Virtual Dub with VOB mod: VirtualDub
2. Download AC-3 ACM Codec: AC3ACM
3. Unzip and install Virtual Dub
4. Unzip AC-3 ACM Codec and right click on the AC3ACM.inf file and click “Install”
5. Open Virtual Dub and go to File > Open Vide File
6. Select your VOB
7. Then go to Video > Compression…
8. Select DivX Codec
9. Save your AVI by going to File > Save as AVI

Done and done…  Virtual Dub has some basic video editing features too.  Such as cutting out sections or reordering frames.
