Gmail: Mark All Unread Mail as Read

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 | General, Tutorials, Web Design | 2 Comments

For the longest time I had 648 unread message in my gmail account. When I created the account, I didn’t use it as much as I do now, so it got polluted with unread messages that I never really planned on going back to read. I finally discovered a way to get my unread count back to 0, which delivers the impression that my inbox is clean.

Step 1:

  • Log into your account

Microsoft’s New Search Engine – Bing

Thursday, May 28th, 2009 | General, Technology | No Comments

Microsoft is preparing to release Bing.com – a search engine where the results are organized in a logical order, rather then how most search engines do it – by popularity.

Bing tries to help deal with search overload by helping you find the best choice faster. By breaking results into logical categories and highlighting answers directly on the results page it helps a user make the best decision. There’s many different sections of Bing such as health, shopping, images, videos, maps and more. Using Bing for flights allows you to search across multiple airlines (like other search engines) but also provides a “price prediction” tool that shows you the best time to buy your ticket.

Google Trends Experiment

Thursday, May 21st, 2009 | Technology | No Comments

I really enjoy contributing quality content to the interweb community.  It’s fun to blog about my experiences and try to explain challenges as I solve them.  The problem is I don’t solve enough challenges at a high enough frequency that will help me achieve internet celebrity status.  So I’ll be conducting an experiment!

Google offers a tool called Google Trends.  Google Trends utilizes complex algorithms to calculate and display high surges in internet popularity of a keyword.  The top 100 keywords (or phrases) that experience an increase in search queries are displayed in an ordered list.

My experiment will entail utilizing the most popular search topics (based on my own personal interest and search popularity) and provide quality content based on the keywords.  I’m hoping this will give me more to write about, as well as increase my blog’s popularity.

Let the experiment begin!
